Junior Rugby Win

26 November 2021

Match report by Ms. Houlihan:

Well done to Naas CBS Junior Rugby team who comprehensively defeated High School yesterday in Naas Rugby Club.

Minutes into the match High School intercepted a pass in the middle of the field and ran in under the posts. A conversion and a penalty soon after, meant Naas found themselves 10 down before they had even settled. Thankfully, the team kept their heads despite going down to 14 for 10 minutes. They made their way up the field forcing High School to give away penalties. Jack Osbourne capitalised with his boot, reducing the lead to 4. Continued pressure and teamwork from Naas, allowed Joe Dwyer to drive forward and force the ball down over the line. This was then followed by a fantastic run up the line by Charlie Croke who touched down near the posts, which was easily converted by Jack Osbourne. Great defending off the line meant Naas held off going into halftime.

Halftime score: Naas CBS 18 – High School 10

Naas came out in the second half fighting hard and were rewarded by another super try by Joe Dwyer. More tries from Darragh Culligan (2), Conor Butler and Charlie Croke meant there was no way back for High School. Fresh legs off the Naas bench solidified the Naas performance which was capped off by a superb weaving run in by Jake Bourke to finish off the match.

Final Score: Naas CBS 56 – High School 10.

Thank you Ms. Joyce, Mr. Warren and Mick Cahill (CCRO) for your support and expertise. Thanks also to the Leinster ref Philip O’Brien, to the touch judges and to Naas RFC for facilitating the match.
