Update From The Finance Committee of The Naas CBS All – Weather Sports Facility
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As many parents are aware, the development of an all-weather sports facility has been a key focus for our school for some time.
Fundraising over the last two years for the much-needed programme has been extremely successful, thanks to the support and generosity of our parents, teachers, alumni, pitch-side advertisers and sponsors, and the many business owners who have donated plentifully. We further thank the local Councillors who pledged Naas Municipal District grants and support, together with Naas GAA who have also committed to contributing largely. Indeed, the widespread commitment to the growth and well-being of our students is deeply appreciated.
Today we write to inform you that the development is now entering a most exciting chapter, with works shortly commencing on Phase 1 of the project. This stage of the project will see the major refurbishment of the current changing rooms in the sports hall. The creation of a modern new welfare facility for both our pupils and for all those parties who will use this wonderful community amenity outside school hours, will include new changing rooms, accessible toilets and showers, female toilet, and a separate teacher/referee’s ensuite changing room.
In addition, further to our previous update when we announced the wonderful news that the Naas CBS all-weather sports facility project, in conjunction with our partners Naas GAA and Naas Community College, was successfully awarded a significant Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure (LSSIF) grant, we remain fully committed to following the stringent process which parties must adhere to before these funds can be drawn down. Indeed, the timing and compliance phasing of this LSSIF grant process has meant the school would need to reapply for planning permission for the pitch works and we are pleased to say that the necessary administration for submission of same has should be concluded this week.
Naas CBS and the Finance Committee are fully committed to delivering a safe, functional, and high-quality pitch and welfare facilities that will benefit our boys and the wider Naas community, and it is clear, we are ever closer to bringing these much- needed facilities to fruition.
We kindly ask for your patience and continued cooperation as we bring this important project to completion. Thank you for your support and understanding and we look forward to completing fundraising for Phase 2 (the floodlit all-weather sports facility) early in the New Year and updating all stakeholders on our progress again in
the coming months.
Finally, we wish to assure advertisers that their 3- year term only commences the day the all-weather facility is opened.
Yours faithfully,
The Finance committee of the Naas CBS all-weather sports facility
