All Weather Sports Facility Update
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As many of you know, our school was granted planning permission to develop an all-weather sports facility on site in 2021, in conjunction with our project partners, Naas
GAA.
Since early 2023, fundraising efforts by Naas CBS’ Finance Committee for the All- Weather Sports Facility has been tremendously successful. We are sincerely grateful to so many who have already contributed so significantly; the parents who have made generous voluntary contributions; the Naas CBS teachers who have added substantially to the fund through their own fundraising efforts; our many committed pitch-side advertisers and sponsors; the businesses owners who have donated plentifully to this cause; a number of sporting bodies for their financial assistance; the local Councillors who have pledged Naas Municipal District grants and their support.
The notable generosity and community spirit has ensured this project will indeed come to fruition!
Our original intention was to commence works in 2024. However, despite the success in fundraising to date, there is still a significant gap to close before the project is fully financed. Therefore, we have embraced our partner, Naas GAA’s
application, to the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF), announced by the Government in early summer 2024. Our development is now one of several projects that is currently being considered within the GAA category, and if the submission is successful, the grant will indeed deliver a first-class facility at our school, with major developments potentially unfolding at the Club.
One important stipulation of the LSSIF application is that works cannot commence until the decision on which parties will be awarded funding is made. We await the outcome of the LSSIF application, which is scheduled to be announced in late 2024.
In the meantime, it’s business as usual. Our Finance Committee remains dedicated to delivering the funding needed, regardless of the LSSIF outcome; we will continue to seek sponsors, advertisers and donators, to help close the current gap in funding. Given this delay, we furthermore assure advertisers that their 3- year term only commences the day the sign is mounted. The Finance Committee will endeavour to keep all stakeholders appraised of any developments ongoing.
Yours sincerely,
THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
