Gaisce Youth Ambassador
We are incredibly proud to highlight the achievements of our past pupil, Killian Burke, who is currently serving as a Gaisce Youth Ambassador — a national leadership role awarded to young people who have shown exceptional commitment, growth, and passion through the Gaisce The President’s Award programme.
Killian’s Gaisce journey began right here in Naas CBS during Transition Year. It was through taking on the Gaisce Bronze Award that he first discovered a love for service, challenge, and stepping outside his comfort zone, and that initial decision set him on a path that would eventually lead to this incredible ambassadorial role.
Since becoming a Youth Ambassador, Killian has spoken at events across Ireland, shared his personal journey with Erasmus+ and DiscoverEU, and recently travelled to Brussels where he met with MEPs, Irish representatives including Ivana Bacik and Maria Walsh, and even President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola. His story is a powerful reminder of how far a single step can take you. Erasmus+ allowed Killian to take part in youth projects in Italy, Croatia, Poland and France — each one providing the chance to meet people from different cultures, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and explore important social and global issues.
DiscoverEU offered another life-changing opportunity: an Interrail Pass that enabled Killian to travel to over 30 countries across Europe. This experience built independence, broadened perspectives, and deepened his understanding of what it means to be a global citizen. These programmes are supported by Gaisce.
Gaisce is a wonderful opportunity offered to all our students, particularly in Transition Year. It empowers students to build confidence, develop new skills, and make a real difference in their communities and their own lives. Killian’s journey is a testament to what’s possible when you embrace that opportunity.

We’re so proud of Killian and we encourage all our TY students to consider beginning their Gaisce journey — who knows where it might lead!
