Traditional Music for Seachtain na Gaeilge

26 March 2026

We had a fabulous week of music last week to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge.

We were delighted to link up with St. Corban’s N.S. to celebrate our culture and heritage through music. Edward and Cormac Donegan, both past pupils, were invited over to Corban’s to play traditional music for the students there. Their performance was greatly received and we are very proud of them!

Three of our own past pupils came back to visit and perform traditional music at various assemblies throughout the week. Colum Doyle, Senan O’Neill and Brian McNamee performed a variety of tunes to celebrate traditional Irish music. The lads also spoke to the music classes to impart their knowledge about traditional dances and instruments which is all covered on the music curriculum. A huge thank you to Colum, Senan and Brian for giving their time to come back and visit us.

Finally, 80 students from 6th Class in Corban’s came to visit on Thursday to enjoy musical performances from some of our music students.  It was a lovely afternoon of music and great to connect and collaborate with students who will be part of our school community in September.

Well done to Daniel Oke, Edward Donegan, Darragh Phillips, Fionn Whelan, Conor Morgan, Oisín Tuohy, Oscar Babitchi and Harry Byrne. The lads performed songs by Irish artists including Zombie by the Cranberries and Killegh by Kingfishr. You can watch their performance on our Instagram page @cbs.naas

As well as a fantastic musical performance, our music students spent some time giving advice and tips to the incoming students. We hope to continue our relationship with Corban’s in this capacity.

Very proud of all involved and delighted to have such talent in the school!
