EIRSAT-1 Space Mission
Our Science Department recently received an exciting email from the UCD Centre for Space Research to inform us that Naas CBS was part of the EIRSAT-1 Space Mission. UCD students built the spacecraft and operated it from its launch on December 1st 2023, until its re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, where it burned up, on September 4th 2025. During its mission, the instruments on EIRSAT-1 detected many cosmic explosions from deep space called “Gamma-Ray Bursts”.
We are delighted to be included in the list of school names sent back to Earth from the EIRSAT-1 spacecraft before it re-entered the atmosphere. Big thanks to the UCD team for allowing us to be a small part of a wonderful space adventure.
